My journey as an advocate began in 2018, ignited by a deep-rooted awareness of the critical disparities faced by transgender and gender-expansive people in healthcare, mental health, and sex work. Combining lived experience, clinical expertise, and corporate acumen, Mataoe champions progressive policies, cultural shifts, and comprehensive sexuality education.
Recognized for their impactful work by organizations such as Decriminalize Sex Work and their platform on panels with NYTAG and VICE, Mataoe's voice is a powerful catalyst for change. Their unwavering focus on centering the experiences of Black transgender and Black queer communities has positioned them as a leading figure in the movement for equity and justice. By leveraging their expertise in UX design, Mataoe creates innovative solutions that address the unique needs and challenges faced by transgender and gender-expansive individuals, driving cultural transformation and building a more inclusive future for all.
